Blue Mountains, Ontario
StructureFramed & Free Span Fabric Structures
From skiing in the winter to mountain biking, golf and their Ridge Runner roller coaster in the summer, Blue Mountain is Ontario’s premier all-season resort. Shade Sails Canada has been working with Blue Mountain for the past 5 years with multiple iterations of shade structures installed at various stages during their development. The initial shade structure was installed to protect the staff and customers, providing shade for them to work safely in the summer.
The engineering considerations were extremely important for this project due to the close proximity to their roller coaster. The Four Point structure was installed on an elevated deck with the frame supplying added support, requiring less extensive footings and a less obtrusive installation while still providing maximum amounts of shade.
The first phase of the third structure was installed to protect customers queuing for tickets and will be expanded to cover the rest of the courtyard at a later date. We worked closely with our engineer during planning, who approved the attachment point of the roller coaster itself creating a truly unique and visually stunning solution.
