Measurements
The sizes shown refer to the shade sail fabric itself. Once the sail is installed, the full span from one anchor point to the next will be slightly larger to allow room for hardware and tensioning.
Before ordering, please review the guides below to confirm that your Standard Shade Sail will work for your space. The layout dimensions are based on measurements taken from anchor hardware to anchor hardware, also known as "eye to eye," with the sail installed flat and each anchor point set at the same height.

Custom vs. Standard
Shade Sails Canada focuses on shade solutions that suit the space properly. While standard-sized shade sails are available in a select range of popular sizes and colours, custom shade sails can be made to match more specific layouts, measurements, and design needs.

Installation
Shade sails are quick to install! Watch the installation video before getting started, and make sure your turnbuckles are properly tightened.
Please note that not every corner will include a turnbuckle. We do this intentionally to maximize shade coverage.
Where to Attach My Sail?
Shade Sails are strong, durable systems, but their performance depends on the strength of the structures they are attached to. We will work with you to help ensure your existing structures, posts, or frames are substantial enough to handle the load created by a properly tensioned shade sail.
Your anchor points must be strong enough to withstand the tension and forces applied when a Shade Sail is installed correctly. Also leave enough room for the required hardware and the predetermined stretch built into your Shade Sail's design.
To make this easier, we have created site dimension illustrations to help you picture your space and confirm that there is enough room to properly install and tension your Shade Sail.
When anchoring your Standard-size Shade Sail, we recommend using our Marine Grade Stainless Steel Anchor Hardware. It has been specially selected to perform exceptionally well in all weather conditions for lasting durability.
What Your Triangle Shade Sail Includes
Our Standard-size Triangle Shade Sails are manufactured and shipped fully cabled, with the appropriate Marine Grade Stainless Steel tensioning hardware already installed for convenience. Each triangle sail arrives ready to fly with our Advanced Tensioning System, Double Stitched Seams, and Triple Layered Reinforced Corners.
Shipping is included, and our Shade Architects are here to help with questions about Triangle Shade Sail fit, layout, or proper tensioning.
Anchor Hardware is sold separately, as the right hardware depends on your specific installation, structure, and attachment points.
Triangle vs. Quadrilateral
Our Standard-size Shade Sails come in both 3-Point and 4-Point styles. Both options are offered in our most popular sizes, helping make it easier to find a sail that works for your space.
Each sail is measured before it is tensioned. This means you will need to leave enough room between your anchor points for the hardware, along with a small amount of fabric stretch once the sail is installed.
Don’t stress, we’ve included the proper site dimensions for each Standard-size Shade Sail so you can choose the right option more easily. You’ll find those details in the next tab.
The Design
Shade sails are designed for three-season use and are meant to come down during the snow months. If you need support with this, ask us about our Drop & Fly program.
Height variation makes a big difference in how the sail performs. Creating a hyperbolic shape helps with water runoff, improves wind performance, and can increase shade coverage when the sail is positioned toward the west. With the right design and installation, Shade Sails can handle extreme wind conditions.

Shade Sail Fabric Options
At Shade Sails Canada, our Standard-size Triangle Shade Sails offer a quick and simple way to add shade to your space. Each sail is prefabricated and ready to ship.
We use our high-quality Commercial Grade Light fabric, so you still get the 15-year warranty that comes with this fabric. This warranty covers UV degradation, rot, and mould, and the fabric is also tear-proof and fade-resistant.

Shade Sail Height Guide
We often describe our Shade Sails as a mix of style and function. They bring a clean, architectural look to a space, while also helping with wind performance, water runoff, and most importantly, shade where you need it most.
To get that result, anchor heights matter. Setting points at different heights helps create the hyperbolic, or twisted, shape that gives a Shade Sail its finished look and performance.
When measuring for a Standard-size Triangle Shade Sail, make sure to account for these height differences. Measurements should be taken from one planned anchor point to the next, and heights should be measured from the same reference point. This could be level ground, the surface your posts or building sit on, or the lowest shared point between your anchoring posts or wall.
