Shade Sails are extremely strong and durable systems, but are only ever as strong as their attachment points.
The good selection of anchor points and posts design is crucial.
Contact us if you need help and we will work with you to ensure your existing structures, posts or frames are substantial enough to withstand the load from these tensioned systems.
Shade sails are designed for 3 seasons and are intended to come down during snow months. Enquire with us if you need support doing so with our Drop & Fly program.
Height variance is key. The hyperbolic shape aids with water runoff, performance in wind, and creates a greater shade if facing west. With a proper design our Shade Sails can go through a cyclone!
Our Shade Analysis & Design is the best way for you to not only visualize your next project but it’s also the best way for you to analyze just how much shade will be created at different times of day or year.
Varying the heights of your attachment points is the best way to create captivating shapes with your Shade Sail. For example, with 4 points we can create a beautiful hyperbolic shape by alternating high and low attachment points. This hyperbolic shape is also aerodynamic and allows for proper rain runoff.
Add the traveller system to your order and adjust the height of the sail to maximize the shade!
Inspired by our nautical roots, the Shade Sails Canada's Traveller System™ facilitates an innovative adjustment to the positioning of the corner of your Shade Sail, allowing you to adjust your corner height(s) to better protect you from the Sun at later times in the day. This offers unprecedented versatility for your Shade Sail.
Our specialty fabric is extremely durable, highly fade-resistant and tear-proof. Warrantied for up to 15 years, it provides protection from harmful UV rays as well as substantial cooling for your outdoor space.
Although most of our Shade Sail fabrics are not waterproof, with proper design and installation we can ensure that they efficiently shed water. A fine mist may still pass through the fabric, but the majority of rain will be directed to the low points of your Shade Sail where even the heaviest rains will easily run off.

It is our mission to have you Shade Sail fit perfectly and for that, accurate measurements are key.
The recommended method is to first install your anchor points and then measure eye to eye with a non-elastic string.

Our custom size Shade Sails are shipped fully cabled with all the appropriate Marine Grade Stainless Steel Tensioning Hardware conveniently installed and labeled. Please note not all corners have a turnbuckle, we do that to maximize the fabric size.
Any Anchor Hardware that is required for your install will need to be ordered in addition to your Shade Sail.

A Custom Shade Sail gives you the freedom to create almost any shape you want in a Sail, allowing you to benefit from maximum Shade and aesthetic design.
In many cases a Custom Sail is also the most economical solution, as we can create your Shade Sail to attach to your existing anchor points (House, Garage, Large Tree, etc) instead of adding multiple new posts.
You simply provide us with accurate measurements of your space and we make your sail to fit, considering stretch, hardware and all. This is as simple as it sounds.
We recently purchased our third custom sail from Shade Sails Canada. Our deck has a southern and western exposure. Without the sails you would not be able to use the deck during the heat of the day.
They make there sails with high-quality materials and hardware. We have been using our first sail for over 5 years, and it still looks like new. They have an excellent website with lots of information on how to choose a sail, measure for it and the hardware that can be used to install it. They also have great videos to accompany the information.
Their customer service is great. They were easy to communicate with and responded promptly to all my inquiries. They were very helpful when I was making decisions on the installation hardware I would require.
The installation process goes smoothly when you follow the installation instructions. They have a great video of the installation process on there website.
I was impressed with how fast we received our last sail. From the time we placed the order until we received it took 10 days.

I saw a shade sail years ago and though they were such a great idea. So I went and ordered one from a chai hardware store. That lasted all of 12 hours.. not even exaggerating. The wind came up and tore it to shreds. I then found Shade Sails Canada and purchased their shade sail. what a difference. amazing quality and top level service! I have now had mine installed for 6 years (I take it down for winter) and still love the system! Thanks for the continued service and great product. These days it ios all to common to find companies making products that are designed not to last. We purchased two sails. I first worked with Chris from sales and he was super helpful as we talked about options. I then worked with Jake on the design and they were super patient as our design evolved. It took a few tries but once we got it right, the order was place and we had our sails in Ontario within 2 weeks. Awesome service all around.
